The Connecticut Pardon Team offers many
informational and education processes designed to help you file your
own Pardon Application. All of our forums and programs are
designed to empower the individual with the critical information and
tools they need to complete and file their own Pardon Application -
including the application form and helpful informational
publications from other agencies.
Pardon Forum Orientation - Our original information
session which provides attendees with an overview of the Pardon
process and what they can expect when completing the application.
Attendees are provided with:
- Information on how to research state statutes regarding
pardon or expungement procedures
- State of CT information regarding Erasure of a Criminal
Conviction
- Sample Pardon request package with appropriate forms
- Criminal Expungement Information Sheet
- Information regarding restoration of Voting Rights
- Listing of Statutes and Laws governing Records Relief by
Expungement for all State and Federal Zones (laws periodically
change and should be verified)
- Information on Transitional Jobs for Ex-Offenders
Pardon Application Preparation Workshop
-
Once the pardon
application has been received and the individual has completed the
Orientation session, participants will be educated on the
information retrieval process. This may include:
- Assistance with writing
skills and tips to help you request letters of reference
from community contacts, and for volunteer and community service
experiences
- Developing a personal timeline for requesting copies of records,
and information on available hearing deadlines, dates, and
locations.
Public Speaking Workshop -
Applicants must be prepared to
tell their story, in their own words, and convince the Pardon Board
that they are indeed rehabilitated. This program will include Public
Speaking coaching to help you effectively work through any fear or
apprehension you may have about public speaking - the number one
fear of most adults.
Image Development & Coaching Services - A polished and
professional Total Image (Visual, Vocal and Verbal) will increase
your chances of successfully completing the oral interview portion
of your pardon process. This program will help individuals increase
their self-esteem, learn what colors and garments look best on their
'right now' body, and how to effectively present themselves during a
stressful, yet critically important interview.
Disability Access - The Connecticut Pardon Team is committed to providing maximum access to its programs and services for people with disabilities. Every effort is taken to ensure that informationals and other public forums are held in accessible locations. Written material is made available in alternative format upon request. Participants who need communications access will be provided with the aid or service that they request whenever possible.
Participants with disabilities are encouraged to contact the office by phone or e-mail to discuss their particular disability-related needs.
